He was born in Los Angeles in 1904 to an American mother and a Japanese father, who was a celebrated poet. He lived in Japan until the age of 13, when he moved back to the United States. Noguchi’s biracial and bicultural upbringing made him feel as though he were living “in between” the East and West; the balancing of this tension became the subject of his art.
He was also inspired by calligraphy, the way black strokes activated the empty white space of the paper, and by the Zen Buddhist concept of void (mu), which sees substance and nothingness as interdependent states of reality.
Noguchi believed water to be The Ultimate Sculptor ~ as we are made of water, we must learn its ways…

from Selling post cards to spraypainting Walls, whilst Living in cardboard boxes,
an Artist that strived to have his opinions heard, pushed conventional Artistic views, pushed his own mental and physical health to an unfortunate end…whilst seemingly confirming “ that Artists are worth more dead…”
as one of the most valuable dead artists whom Saw very little wealth in his own time…
he welds a freedom that has always inspired me, haunted by his haitian roots…haunted by his sudden Fame,
Samo lives On…

Sicily has given me more Time to Think, sometimes when one paints a portrait, it sits in one a Long time, its tough to digest exactly where one was going,
~ or what it meant, or means, How they inspired you…me, us… I Love all his earlier abstracted sculptures, and fascinated by what made him tick…living in a small shabby studio in Montparnasse even after fame and fortune had reached him ~ he escaped the war and found himself in Switzerland ~ he continued his work and drew portraits in all colours
untill he was left with grey, the sum of all paint…all sat long hours, being painted, all were drawn to his capsule studio, where all seemed possible…
Giacometti died in 1966 of heart disease (pericarditis) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ~ he chain smoked all his Life, he is diangnosed, and dies The next Day…
a difficult face & life to capture in my admiration of him as a painter & sculptor…

Brancusi was a Pioneer of modern sculpture, I stumbled upon Him by seeing his studio one Day,
Looking at architecture, both his Art and his vision inspires…He crafted stone till he waded through stone powder,
he was known to sleep On a mattress of money, as it offered Him little else,
a prolific Sculptor whom was in constant pursuit of simplicity, as he States “Simplicity is complexity resolved.”
“Art is a marriage of the conscious and the unconscious.”
Constantin Brancusi passed away on March 16, 1957, in Paris, doing what he loved to do. “The artist is the antenna of the race.”

“Since a three-dimensional object casts a two-dimensional shadow,
we should be able to imagine the unknown four-dimensional object whose shadow we are.
I for my part am fascinated by the search for a one-dimensional object that casts no shadow at all.”
